"When Angels Cry" was written on July 28, 2007 inspired by tragic events that took place in Cheshire, Connecticut on July 23, 2007.

In an attempt to make sense of all of the heartache, this song was written. I pray that this song is a means to heal and comfort all those who are grieving not only over this tragedy, but every tragedy that affects our lives, especially when loved ones are lost so needlessly and senselessly.

I truly believe that God and the angels cry with us and greive with us when our loved ones are taken so abruptly from this earth. I also believe that we will see and be with those we have lost once again someday.

The song was recorded at Studio Unicorn in Redding, Connecticut on Tuesday, July 31 with the help of Paul Avgerinos, Christine Yandell and Dan Hocott.

WHEN ANGELS CRY
Lyrics & Music by: D. Sweetman (ASCAP) © 2007

Life is a mystery we’re living day to day. So many things can happen along the way.
Moments of sadness and moments of tears, Moments we can’t forget throughout the years.

The day our heart’s broke, was a day a nation cried; A day that will live on in our memories.
Remember their faces, remember their love. We’ve got to believe they’re looking down from up above.

(chorus)
Angels cry when children die, a senseless aching pain. Emotions I can’t hold back- my tears are falling like rain.
I know why a parent cries when innocence is lost. People talk about resolution, but who’s counting the cost… when angels cry.

For those who are grieving, comfort abounds. So many people filled with kindness all around.
How could this happen, so many question why; a Mom and her daughters whose lives have passed us by.

(chorus)
Angels cry when children die, a senseless aching pain. Emotions I can’t hold back- my tears are falling like rain.
I know why a parent cries when innocence is lost. People talk about resolution, but who’s counting the cost… when angels cry.

I know that someday all the answers will be clear…
But for now I pray their spirits will be near.

Angels cry when children die, a senseless aching pain. Emotions I can’t hold back- my tears are falling like rain.
I know why a parent cries when innocence is lost. People talk about resolution, but who’s counting the cost…
when angels cry.
